This sunday, on the the 10th of September, we celebrate the 10th anniversary of Latvian national Father’s day – Tēva Diena – which as always honors the important role of a dad in a child’s and family’s life 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦👨‍🍼👨‍👨‍👧‍👦

The “proud to be a dad” parade will take off from the monument of Freedom at 12.00 and head for the Vermanes Garden, where lots of exciting activities will take place for dads, kids, moms, etc. of all ages!

DCI will also be present here with the Latvian organization for parents Mammamuntetiem.lv and support them with their awesome workshop “Paper houses” (LV: #Papīramāja), where you together with the artist Liubov Ancheva, can take part in creating a city from cardboard by using our creativity and imagination as guiding visions for a green, sustainable and innovative city environment.

We are proud to present the final report of the #R

We are proud to present the final report of the #Ruralcultural.

The rural regions of Europe are faced with complex societal challenges in the 21st century. Today many of these communities experience a vast decline in population, lack of job opportunities and quality of life.

This report aims to improve our approach in how we engage with these rural areas to help them create and enhance their own cultural and social resilience. It does so by adding not-previously-considered methods that helps to distinguish a more nuanced classification of rural communities as well as how the challenges they face differ from one another. The examples used for this examination are the three communities: Ligatne (Latvia), Papile (Lithuania) and Grindsted (Denmark).
This project was carried out from January 2022 until June 2023, with us as lead partner, together with co-partners Vidzemes plānošanas reģions from Latvia and from Lithuania @laimikis.lt The project is supported by the Council of Baltic Sea States Project Support Facility and born from the Interreg BSR project (2019-2021) that created the cultural planning method.

Friday, we went to Luca Bertis Photo exhibition “Nordic Blue”. The pictures portray the Nordic countries, in a new (blue) light, which has been created by the cyanotype method. We also got to see how this process is been done, in a video at the exhibition.

If you also want to see this and learn more about the cyanotype method, the exhibition is open in Tallinn at @dokfotokeskus until 26/11.

Here is one of our recommendations for the weekend: Go see Luca Bertis’ exhibition ‘Nordic Blue’ from 26/8 (until 26/11) in Tallinn.

In his photo exhibition Luca Berti has created a photo series from Estonia, Finland, Denmark, Norway and Sweden using the cyanotype method. The exhibition examines the connection between human and nature in the globalized world. Come see for yourself and get inspired.

At their stand they offered a wide variety of joyful, cultural and creative activities to dive into as fx face paint, Belarusian “vytinanka” paper-creations and creating tote-bags with @yakubouskayaolga and her amazing cat-motives.

The event was also visited and supported by famous Belarusian musician @volski.official , the latvian ambassador to Belarus and by the many wonderful local Latvians and Belarusians who came to to learn more about Belarusian culture and art at this this wonderful day of celebration with Supolka (association of Belarusians in Latvia).
