Northern Lights Nordic-Baltic Film Festival 2020 in Belarus

This year, the 6th Northern Lights Nordic-Baltic Film Festival in Belarus took place from 22 October to 29 October.

Northern Lights is an annual festival that offers Belarusian viewers the latest feature and documentary films from Northern Europe and the Baltic States. Due to the current COVID-19 situation, the festival took place online this year.

Two Danish movies were screened – documentary “Krigsfotografen” (Photographer of War) by Boris Benjamin Bertram, and “Monty and the Street Party” by Mikael Wulff og Anders Morgenthaler.

On 22 October, Danish feminist and activist Emma Holten held a lecture on girl power. In the lecture, she touched upon how women’s mutual respect, solidarity and strength of mind save the world in critical times. Watch it in the link below:

During the Festival, Danish film director and producer Boris Bertram was also invited to take part in a discussion about conflict, the challenges of photo journalists in war and whether it is possible to recognise beauty even under horrible conditions. The discussion was streamed live on Facebook.

Among other things, Boris Bertram spoke about his work with war photographer Jan Grarup and his interest in how working with war photography affects the photographer and the people around him.
