Culturability BSR workshop at EU Strategy Forum in Stockholm – workshop and Minecraft demonstration for Finnish and Swedish Prime Ministers and Secretary General of The Nordic Council of Ministers
During this year’s Strategy Forum of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR) in Stockholm, the Culturability BSR workshop on “Cultural gaming as an innovative and interactive tool for modelling smart and sustainable regions” presented the future possibilities of gaming in the development of the Baltic Sea Region. The workshop on gaming as an instrument in regional improvement is one of several initiatives under the Culturability BSR project- a flagship project in the EUSBSR action plan. The list of distinguished speakers was headed of Vu Bui Chief Operating Officer of Mojang.
In addition to the workshop, a concrete model on how to use the gaming platform Minecraft as an interactive tool to envisage macro-regional development priorities was presented. A prototype was made of the city of Copenhagen by Geoboxers Nynne Sole Dalå and the possibilities and potentials of Minecraft were demonstrated in the presence of the Swedish Prime Minister, Stefan Löfven, the Finnish Prime Minister, Juha Sipilä, and the Secretary General of the Nordic Council of Ministers, Dagfinn Høybråten.
The project and workshop was presented by Simon Drewsen Holmberg Director of the Danish Cultural Institute in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania and developed by Olaf Gerlach Hansen, Senior Consultant at the Danish Cultural Institute. The workshop was opened by Ginta Tropa of the Nordic Council of Ministers Office in Riga
