Akademisk Rejsebureau at the National Library of Latvia
On the 23rd of September, the Danish travel agency Akademisk Rejsebureau visited Riga and the Danish Cultural Institute at its premises in the National Library of Latvia. The group of 30 guests had visited Tallinn before spending a couple of days in Riga and then continuing to Lithuania. The evening started off with a dinner in the Library Restaurant and was followed by a quick tour of the Library where Dainas skapis – the filing cabinet that contains thousands of Latvian folk verse – was explored. Rikke Helms, tour guide and former Director of the Danish Cultural Institute, offered interesting anecdotes from her time at the institute and shared her profound knowledge of Latvia and Latvian-Danish cultural exchange. Later followed a concert with the Latvian instrument, the kokle, and the night ended with a taste of the Black Balsam.
