LAMPA Discussion – How can digital technologies breathe new life into our cultural heritage?

We are looking forward to seeing you this Friday at Sarunu festivāls LAMPA in the discussion ‘Open Archives and Digital Futures in the Nordic Countries’.
How can digital technologies breathe new life into our cultural heritage? This panel will discuss how museums and artists in the Nordic and Baltic region are using artificial intelligence, augmented reality and Web3 to reinterpret historical archives, making them interactive and accessible. Examples of how classical art connects with generative media will be discussed, as well as the openness of data in contemporary art.
PARTICIPANTS
Björn Norberg, art curator (Sweden)
Björn works at the Swedish National Agency for Public Art and is currently actively creating exhibitions and leading several public art commissions.
Diana Velasco, artistic director of MoNDA (Denmark)
Diana Velasco is the Artistic Director of MoNDA, the Nordic Museum of Digital Art, and co-founder of Radar Contemporary. Diana has curated exhibitions at major art institutions such as ARoS and Kunsthalle Charlottenborg.
Raitis Šmits, RIXC co-founder and artistic director (Latvia)
Raitis is an assistant professor at the Visual Communication Department of the Art Academy of Latvia, where he received his Doctor of Fine Arts degree in March 2015.
Jurģis Peters, artist(Latvia)Jurģis Peters is a new media artist and doctoral researcher at the University of Tampere in Finland. His practice-based research examines the impact of new technologies, especially artificial intelligence (AI), on society and creative expression.
