“Peace will come. We’ll make a nice tea, buy a huge tasty cake, and we’ll be back home… The only news we’ll hear will be of a newborn panda in China, somebody’s birthday party, or somebody planning their wedding… And we’ll never hear a word about war,” says Nastya (21), a Ukrainian girl from Vinnytsia.

Non-stop explosions and sirens forced Nastya and her mother Ludmila (40) to leave Kyiv, while Nastya’s boyfriend stayed in Kyiv.

Since the war started in Ukraine the Danish photographer Martin Thaulow has portrayed and interviewed Ukrainians in their home country, Poland, Latvia, and in Western Jutland. This has resulted in the special exhibition "Voice of the Future" which is now displayed in the town of Bauska and the village of Pilsrundāle in Latvia.

Riga International Film Festival (RIFF) showcases three Danish movies this year:

The exhibition "Voices of the Future" by the Danis

The exhibition "Voices of the Future" by the Danish photographer Martin Thaulow "brings together people from Rundāle, Ukrainians and Northern Europe", writes the journalist of the regional Latvian newspaper «Bauskas Dzīve» Anita Rozentāle.

"Voices of the Future" features portraits and stories of Ukrainians, Martin has met and interviewed in Ukraine, Poland, Latvia and Denmark.

The photo exhibition in Pilsrundāle will be on until 29 November.

On 28 September we participated in Nordic Days in

On 28 September we participated in Nordic Days in Bauska, where we also had the opening of the exhibition “Voices of the Future” by the Danish artist Martin Thaulov. It was a pleasure to have also the Ambassador of Ukraine Anatolii Kutselov at the event.

The Nordic Days are organised by the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office in Riga, bringing together Embassies from the Nordic countries. Each year the Nordic days take place in a different town and offer a range of cultural events.
