“EUNIC” European Project in the Baltic States Seeks Project Manager

 

EUNIC – European Union National Institutes for Culture is Europe’s network of national cultural institutes, with 36 members from all 28 EU member states and offices in over 150 countries. EUNIC members work in the arts, languages, youth, education, science, society, inter cultural dialogue and development. At a local level, EUNIC members join together in over 100 clusters to collaborate on common projects and programs and to promote the role of culture in the EU’s internal and external relations.

 

Building on the EU strategic approach to international cultural relations, the three EUNIC Baltic clusters (in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania) are developing a common project EUNIC Baltic Roadtrip 2019 – Mapping & Discussing the Future which will take place in autumn this year.

 

Paying special attention to young people (18-26) in less privileged border zones of the Baltic States and asking the overall question “What is our dream for the future?”, the EUNIC Baltic Roadtrip 2019 sets out to create a greater awareness of togetherness in these areas and across nations to enhance people-to-people contacts through mutual learning.

 

AIMS OF THE PROJECT

 

– to create stronger dialogue and cohesion between members of local communities of less privileged border zones in the Baltics, particularly young people.

 

– to create mutual understanding and exchange between areas of the Baltic states facing similar socio-cultural challenges.

 

– to create a stronger sense of European cohesion and a stronger dialogue between the local communities and EUNIC members.

 

ACTIVITIES AND OBJECTIVES

 

The EUNIC Baltic Roadtrip 2019 will take a group of 24 youngsters as well as selected experts and artists (local and international) through the three Baltic states. The towns visited will be Šalčininkai (Lithuania), Daugavpils (Latvia) and Valga (Estonia).

 

The Roadtrip will take place over 8 days in October/November 2019. Two days will be spent in each of the three towns, where different activities will be carried out (cultural mapping, discussions, artistic workshops…).

 

We are currently looking for an experienced, motivated and dynamic Project Manager to run this project on a freelance and part-time basis from mid-May to the end of 2019. A higher workload involvement will be required towards the end of the project.

 

JOB OBJECTIVE

To   advise   on   and   manage, under the supervision of the 3 Baltic clusters the coordination, implementation, monitoring and reporting of the project. The successful applicant will be the main point of contact for all the European partners involved. This post will be based in Riga, in the Latvian Institute, the contract will be signed with the Danish cultural Institute in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, and also under the supervision of French Institute in Latvia. It will require travel to Lithuania and Estonia.

 

The salary for the whole project will be 3 760 euros (before taxes).

 

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1) Project Planning

– Co-design the project in regards to content, formats, partnerships, contributors and participants

 

– Co-design collaboration processes with clusters and partners for uniting all project activities into one common goal

 

2) Project Implementation

 

– Prepare the content and logistics of the project (maintain contacts with local partners, draft an agenda, negotiate with service providers, etc.)

 

–  Participate in and supervise the Baltic road trip (October 23rd – October 30th)

 

–  Carry out the different activities/events planned during the trip

 

–  Coordinate the participation of the different contributors

 

–  Plan and carry out the press and PR activities for the project

 

–  Monitor the budget of the project

 

3) Project Reporting

 

– Document all the activities related to the project, collect information, and produce content to be used in online publications throughout the whole project.

 

– Write activity reports to funders and partners. Writing the final report, financial documentation of the entire project.

 

SKILLS

Excellent command of English (written and spoken) / Estonian, Latvian or Lithuanian would be a plus / Russian appreciated
Intensive experience in the management of major international cultural projects
Computer literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
Good capability of converting ideas into practical results
Good knowledge of project cycle management
Fully independent in report writing and excellent drafting skills
Sense of initiative, very good organizational skills, service mind attitude
Excellent communications skills
Previous professional experience in European project fields appreciated
